THE Fountain

The identity and name of Mansão do Passeio derive from the iconic Fonte do Passeio, located next to the property and deeply rooted in the history of Alcácer do Sal. In 1857, the tapping of an ancient spring to supply drinking water marked a decisive milestone for the city, reflecting a progressive vision on the part of its leaders and a significant improvement in the living conditions of the population.
Integrated into the exterior walls of the Mansion, the Fonte do Passeio remains to this day a living element of the local heritage. Its spouts continue to provide water to the citizens, maintaining a continuous public function for nearly two centuries and reinforcing the connection between the property, the city, and its history.
After more than thirty years of vacancy, the Mansão do Passeio underwent a thorough restoration and revitalization process, restoring the space’s architectural and symbolic significance. It now reopens with a new vision that respects its heritage legacy and projects it into the present.
