The Techstars Startup Weekend Alcácer took place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of May in Alcácer do Sal.
An entrepreneurship event where, over the course of 3 days, entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs experienced the ups, downs, fun and pressure that are part of life in a startup! All this in 54 hours.
Techstars is known worldwide for investing in and accelerating entrepreneurs and technological solutions, and this year Alentejo hosted an edition of Startup Weekend. It was 3 days of hard teamwork, disruptive ideas and incredible solutions - from the use of artificial intelligence to the creation of software in the area of human resources and applications in the restaurant sector.
Participants had the opportunity to receive mentoring from experts in various areas, including management, finance, digital marketing, etc. The first edition of Startup Weekend Alcácer featured the following mentors: Andreia Morita, Cathy Gallagher, Craig Van Hulzen, Henrique Paranhos, João Duarte, Randy Ataíde, Stjin Neuteleers and Telma Barrelas.
The entire weekend dynamic was handled by André Marquet, Facilitator of Startup Weekend Alcácer, founder and CEO of Productized, an innovation company focused on digital technology product startups for corporations.
Startup Weekend Alcácer had participants from various parts of the country - from the Algarve to Porto - and even from the United States of America. The winning team presented the project “First Fruits”, an application by students for students! It was made up of Alia Hirschi (USA), Beatriz Khurma (Alcácer do Sal), Cristiana Carvalho (Porto) and Rafael Marquet (Lisbon).
The whole weekend was spent at the Mansão do Passeio, a historic building in the city of Alcácer. After a major update and renovation the Mansão is now open again - a Business Center with modern private offices for rent, event rooms, spaces and gardens for corporate events or personal events and shops, including the Artisanal Gallery with regional products and local crafts.
